A MUCH-loved member of the team at town centre charity The Relationships Centre has died after a short illness.

Lucy McGuire had worked at the Museum Street site since 2000 and the 44-year-old died leaving behind her a husband and young son.

Staff at the charity said they are ‘devastated’ but determined to work hard and grow the organisation to ‘do Lucy proud’.

A spokesman for the centre said: “Typically of Lucy, she was thinking of others and donated her organs so that nine people could achieve an increased chance of an improved quality of life.

“She touched the lives of many families and individuals through both her work at The Relationships Centre and her strong association with St Thomas’ church in Stockton Heath.

“She gave up a promising career in business to retrain as a counsellor to be able to support and empower young people to achieve their dreams through engaging with them and building their life skills.”

As contracts manager at the charity, Lucy helped many young people and was passionate about giving them new opportunities and boosting their social lives.

Lucy herself said watching youngsters grow into confident, independent people was the most rewarding part of her job.

A spokesman added: “Lucy’s legacy is the charity which she helped build and which has had such a tremendous impact on so many people’s lives. We will miss her physical presence but her essence lives on in the daily work of the charity.”

Lucy’s family have asked that anyone wishing to remember Lucy make a donation to The Relationships Centre in her name rather than sending flowers.

Donations can be made by texting TLSA19 along with the amount to 70070.

A fundraising page will also be set up and for more information visit lifeskillsacademy.co.uk.
