WARRINGTON Wolves young guns were on hand to open new changing rooms in Culcheth which form part of a £500,000 regeneration project.

Work has been completed on the new changing and community facilities at Shaw Street recreation ground.

The investment has given a new lease of life to the site, which is home to the Culcheth Eagles rugby league team.

The improvement works – carried out by Warrington-based contractor Clovemead Ltd – have seen the existing changing facilities replaced with larger, modern and accessible facilities.

Cllr Tony Higgins was joined by Warrington Wolves players Sam Wilde and Jack Johnson at the opening, as well as Andy Barry, from the club.

Cllr Higgins (LAB – Fairfield and Howley) said: "These much-needed improvements will provide a real boost to sport in the area.

"It's the latest part of the rejuvenation of Shaw Street and supports our wider work to invest in sport and green spaces across the borough.

"I'm delighted this work has been completed.

"It will provide modern facilities that sportsmen and women and the whole community can be proud of."

The work is part of the council's £500,000 regeneration of Shaw Street recreation ground.
