A BURST water pipe has caused flooding in Birchwood this morning.
It is understood United Utilities were called to the scene at 2am today, Friday, following reports that residents had no water supply in the WA3 area.
Following an investigation it was revealed that a large water main carrying supplies to the WA3 area had burst near to Birchwood Boulevard.
Around one hour ago United Utilities confirmed that the problem was still ongoing.
A spokesman said: “A leak on Birchwood Boulevard affecting customers in WA3 has been spotted and reported to us.
“Our inspector has been to have a look and found this to be the cause for some of you having no water or just a trickle.
“A team of engineers has been requested to attend and should be on site as soon as possible.
"In order to help get some water flowing through your taps again our inspector is in the process of moving water from a different area into yours while we’re sorting out the leak so we can get your taps flowing back to normal again.
“We’re sorry for the trouble this may be causing you and we will get your taps flowing normally again as quickly as we can.”
