DANCERS from Warrington Collegiate have promised a night of anarchy when they perform at the Lowry Theatre’s dance festival next month.

Company Boom, the college’s dance group, have been rehearsing an act inspired by the punk revolution and women’s rights during the 70s.

They are one of 22 teams chosen to take part in the U Dance north west event.

Two groups will be chosen to go on a national tour, which includes an all-expenses stay in London where the dancers will work with top choreographers.

Student Cadie-Anne Dutton said: “I’m so excited to go and experience the competition and meet other people and dance companies that will be in the same position as us.

“I worked with last year’s dancers who competed at U Dance. They were really strong and motivated and to be where they were now is brilliant.

“I definitely think we have got a really good chance of being selected for the national tour. It would be an amazing opportunity for us all if we were.”

Sindy Richardson from the performing arts department said: “I’m incredibly proud of all of our dancers.

“To be selected from over 100 applicants is an amazing achievement. Performing as part of the U Dance festival is a great opportunity for Company Boom and shows the high expectation and industry standards that we work to.”
