RESTRICTIONS have been imposed on visitors to Warrington Hospital after a norovirus outbreak was reported.
Norovirus, also commonly known as the winter vomiting bug, has affected patients and staff at the hospital, leading to wards A4 and B18 being closed for admissions.
Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has implemented temporary visiting restriction in the wake of the outbreak.
Only two visitors will be allowed to patients on these wards while school-aged children and babies should not be brought be brought into the hospital apart from in special circumstances.
Visitors should not sit on a patient’s bed and are urged to observe hand hygiene procedures.
Anyone experiencing diarrhoea and vomiting should not go directly to the hospital’s A&E department as they cannot be treated there and risk spreading the infection to further patients
