THE council is liaising with the owners of land where travellers have set up camp near to the town centre.

A group of travellers moved onto a car park on Cygnet Court on Centre Park yesterday, Wednesday. 

Witnesses reported seeing eight caravans park up near to a block offices at around 4.30pm. 

The caravans left the area at around 5pm after security guards arrived at the scene.

But is understood they have now moved to Kestrel Court on Centre Park.

A spokesman for Warrington Borough Council said: "An encampment comprising six caravans and associated vehicles arrived at private land on Cygnet Court at Centre Park.

"We are liaising with the landowner and onsite security."

Earlier this week a group of travellers settled at Firecrest Court.

Police were called after a worker on the business park was bitten by a dog.

Earlier this month on February 1, travellers set up an encampment close to the town centre.

The camp of three caravans was reported in the car park of a disused office block at Kestrel Court on Centre Park.
