RESIDENTS are being asked to come up with a name for a new £65,000 sports facility in Birchwood.
The new multi-use games area on Brock Road has helped to transform what was a patch of wasteland into a new outdoor games zone, but now the facility needs a name.
Now a competition has been set up to find a name for the multi-use games area.
Andrew Edwards from project partners Your Housing Group said: “In-keeping with this being a facility to benefit the community, it feels right to invite the community to come up with a better name.
“I’ve heard the patch of ground it’s on referred to as the cage, which isn’t a bad name but maybe someone can do better – we want ideas.”
The winning name will be etched on a plaque at the facility, while the resident who comes up with the best entry will win a £100 FitBit and a family ticket to a Warrington Wolves home game.
Richard Smith at WREN, the funding body which gave a £50,000 grant to the project, added: “It’s wonderful to see something we have funded finally open and ready to make such a difference to young people across Birchwood.
“WREN is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that benefit local communities and this is a great example of what can be achieved.”
