POLICE are investigating after a ‘malicious message’ was left on a primary school answerphone.
Officers were called to Chapelford Village Primary School yesterday, Tuesday, after the incident was reported at 2.30pm.
They say no specific threat was made and it is not yet known who left the message or why.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Upon arrival at the school an officer listened to the message and spoke to staff.
“The message, while unpleasant, made no direct threat to the school itself or any individual associated with it. This appears to be an isolated incident.
“The incident has been recorded as malicious communications and enquiries are ongoing.”
After receiving security advice from police the school building was secured as a precautionary measure.
In a letter to parents head teacher Joanne Hewson said: “This was undertaken effectively and with minimum disruption to normal school business.
“As always, the safety of the children and staff at Chapelford Village Primary School remains paramount at all times.”
