FORMER pupils watched as Sycamore Lane Primary School in Great Sankey was demolished after the council said the disused building was unfit for purpose.
It is understood that the council has plans for the site which will be discussed at an executive board meeting in April.
The school closed in 2013 and moved to become Chapelford Primary School.
Neighbour Emma Littler, whose son was a pupil at Sycamore Lane, said: “We had a lovely relationship with the school. It was a sad day when it closed its doors for the final time but watching it being demolished was an even sadder day.
“What has been nice is the memories it’s stirred on the Facebook page - where people have posted photos and memories from ex pupils and teachers.”
Former students have reportedly been given bricks as mementoes of the school.
A council spokesman added that residents will be invited to have their say on the future plans for the site.
