A MISSING nine-year-old girl has been found 'safe and well' according to police.
The schoolgirl from Orford was discovered shortly before 8.30pm this evening after she was reported missing at 3pm today, Monday.
The police helicopter was deployed to help with the search with hundreds sharing an appeal on social media.
Residents reported seeing the helicopter circling around Orford and Fearnhead.
According to witnesses police dogs were searching fields at St Andrew's Primary School on Mardale Avenue and the surrounding area.
While the police say they are unable to confirm details surrounding the girl's disappearance at this stage, it has been reported on social media that the youngster had been at a friend's house.
