MORE than 4,000 residents have signed up to Warrington Borough Council's green waste collection service in the first week.
The first collections for the service are in March but the payment system went live last week.
The council is not collecting money via door-to-door collections.
Residents are being urged to contact the police if anyone comes to their door asking for money.
The fee can be paid online for £30, or at Contact Warrington, on Horsemarket Street, for £33.
The authority said the 'vast majority' of those to have signed up in the first week have done so online.
To sign up online visit warrington.gov.uk/gardenwaste and to call the police dial 101.
