TWO charities have united to help boost the confidence and independence of young people with disabilities from the town.

The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) near to Lymm has joined forces with OnSide Warrington Youth Club as part of a programme for children taking part in the mentoring programme Buddy Up.

The Farm Buddies scheme will see a group of children from Buddy Up visit the charity’s base every Monday evening for eight weeks to take part in different activities.

Buddy Up co-ordinator, Nuvvy Sibia, said “This is a truly amazing opportunity for Buddy Up and OnSide Warrington Youth Club, not only allowing us to work with an organisation with a fantastic reputation in CAFT, but also providing the children and young people with the opportunity to access amazing facilities and take part in some truly inspiring and memorable activities.”

Buddy Up is a scheme which matches young people with positive role models who volunteer their time.

The sessions will begin on Monday, February 6, and activities will include pizza making, baking, music, arts, sports, gardening and animal care.
CAFT will provide transport, materials and a team of play workers to help support the group who are based in the Peace Centre off Cromwell Avenue.

A celebration day for the young people and their families will take place at the adventure farm at the end of the programme on April 8.

CAFT’s chief executive, Anne Jackson said: “It’s so important that we collaborate with other groups and charities, by working together we will be stronger and more effective, delivering the very best activities possible to those children who really do need our help.

"The Farm Buddies scheme promises to be hugely beneficial to these amazing children from Warrington, boosting their independence and confidence, expanding their social circle and encouraging them to be positive about themselves and their futures.”
