COMPASSIONATE pupils at Cardinal Newman High School who were inspired by a charity’s good work raised more than £1,400 in just one month.
The head boy and head girl chose to support the YMCA after seeing the organisation help people in their own community, working with the homeless over the festive season.
Teachers and students enthusiastically organised fairs, chocolate tombolas and collections to help.
Chaplain Louise James said: “Everybody went way above and beyond our fundraising target.
“The kids really got behind the appeal.”
