THERE is still time to have your say on plans aimed at tackling the issue of 'legal highs' and making the town centre safer.
Public consultation over the council's proposals to introduce a public space protection order (PSPO) ends on Monday, January 23.
Warrington's PSPO would focus on the problem of new psychoactive substances, or 'legal highs'.
It follows research by the council and police – it identified this as a key form of anti-social behaviour, which is having a 'negative impact' on the area.
But council bosses and the police confirmed the introduction of a town centre PSPO would not mean an increase in 'stop and search' powers.
Instead, it would lead to 'an increased profile and messaging that these behaviours will not be tolerated'.
The PSPO would also focus on 'enforcement and support' for those who are suspected of 'engaging in these behaviours'.
