FIREFIGHTERS were called to Culcheth today, Sunday, after flooding at an electricity substation.

A crew made their way to the site, on Hob Hey Lane, at around 2.45pm.

Residents said there is 'concern' following the 'erosion of nearby natural areas of land drainage' due to the removal of trees, hedges and paddock land in new developments.

Some in the area fear it could be 'causing or aggravating' the problem.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Water, which was affecting electrics at a substation, was dealt with by firefighters who removed leaves from a grid to enable drainage from the area."
