FROM seizing knuckle dusters to overseeing the restoration of a bench after it was damaged by a man with glue, it's been another eventful weekend for our emergency services.

Here's some of the incidents they have been called to over the weekend in Warrington.

  • Officers were praised online after overseeing the restoration of a bench on Sankey Street which had been damaged by a man with glue.

The offender was spotted pouring glue on to the bench and quickly detained and returned home before he was returned to the scene today, Sunday.

A spokesman added: "He had to give up the best part of two hours assisting the town centre warden who was restoring the bench so it could be brought back into use.

"This is another use of Restorative Justice - used to target low level criminal behaviour and steer the offender back onto the right track."

Warrington Guardian:

  • At 1.55am this morning, Sunday, a man was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon in the town centre.

It was alleged he had been stopped by door staff and dropped a knuckle duster.

  • Emergency services were also called in the early hours to a car crash on Glazebrook Lane.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested for failing a road side breath test.

  • 10 Dispersal Orders were also issued to youths within the Chapelford area over the weekend.
  • Firefighters were called to a grill fire on St Peters Way at 10.45pm on Saturday.

The flames had been extinguished when they arrived but crews used a large fan to clear smoke from the property.

The first call was at 10.55pm to Poplars Avenue before crews were called out again at 11.25pm to Statham Avenue.
