AN ORFORD pub has reopened following a major £180,000 refurbishment.

The Hawthorne on Orford Lane was shut for more than a month while a full internal and external refurbishment costing £184,000 was carried out, but now the popular pub is back open for business.

Featuring an open plan interior and upgraded beer garden, the pub officially reopened on Friday, December 2 – bringing six new jobs.

The pub will host live music every Saturday night with the new design featuring a raised stage area, while all the top sports fixtures will be broadcast on big screens.

A new pool table and dart boards have been fitted for the pub’s teams to practice on.

New manager Alana Maguire said: “I’ve worked and performed in bars around Warrington for 10 years so it is an area I know well.

“I love the social side of the pub trade and I thoroughly enjoy being the person behind the bar that customers can come up and talk to.

“The Hawthorne is a pub with great potential and I’m really looking forward to getting to know all of the customers, old and new.”

Warrington North MP Helen Jones popped along on Saturday, December 3, to pull a pint behind the new-look bar.

She said: “I am pleased to have been invited to officially open the Hawthorne.

“The refurbishment is complete and the pub looks splendid – I am sure that customers will appreciate the new surroundings.”
