AN Orford man has issued an emotional appeal for help to allow him to finally lay his mum to rest after she ended her own life more than one month ago.

Dale Kiggin's world fell apart when his mum, Dawn, died, aged 51, on October 26 – on the birthday of his brother, Lloyd, who died as a result of a defective heart condition six years ago.

But Dawn remains in Salford Royal Hospital as the family have been unable to pay the required funeral fees.

Dale, originally from Salford but now living in Orford, launched a crowdfunding page one week ago, with just over £115 of the £2,150 target raised so far.

The 32-year-old hopes the public will show their generous side to allow him to finally lay his mum to rest.

He said: "My mum had been very depressed and battled with her emotions about my brother's passing.

"She was really upset when my brother died six years ago because of his heart condition.

"She took her own life without any warning signs, which has left us devastated. She was someone who kept herself to herself.

"We now need to raise £2,150 for her funeral bill so she can get cremated. We have looked into funding but keep going back to square one.

"We have also been to speak to the Citizens Advice Bureau but unfortunately there is not much they can do.

"Because it happened so suddenly we have not had chance to prepare funds.

"I wouldn't normally do anything like this but I can't leave my mum in the hospital for this long, I just want her to rest in peace.

"Anything people can donate would be massively appreciated. People have already donated some money, which is very kind of them."
