A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has died following a crash in Sankey Bridges on Saturday.

Cheshire Police has launched an investigation following the incident, which is believed to have occurred close to the roundabout on Forrest Way at approximately 3.20pm.

Louis Anderson, 16, who was riding a black and white agility scooter, was taken to Aintree Hospital with serious injuries before he sadly passed away.

Investigating officer Sgt Paul Marsh said: "We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident and as part of the investigation I'm keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time this collision occurred.

"I'm also keen to speak to anyone who believes that they may have seen the scooter prior to the time the collision occurred."

Tributes have been paid following the tragedy, with flowers and messages left at the scene.

Louis studied at Bridgewater High School before leaving in summer.

Tim Long, principal of Bridgewater High School, has paid tribute to the youngster.

He said: "We are deeply saddened to hear about the tragic death of Louis Anderson.

"Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends, in these most difficult of times.

"Mr Powell, the head teacher of the upper school, speaks for many when he says: "Louis was a popular student whose personality lit up the school. His charm and charisma were endless and he would never have been seen without a friend by his side."

"His tragic and early death leaves many grieving.

"Our thoughts and condolences remain, as ever, with his family and friends."
