THE M56 is closed in both directions between junction 9 and 10 after an accident at Stretton.
Firefighters and an air ambulance are on the scene and rescued a man stuck inside a heavy goods vehicle.
The crash involved two lorries and three cars and there is currently no access to the M56 westbound from the M6.
Police have closed the road in both directions and urged motorists to avoid the area or remain in their cars if they are on the motorway.
