WARRINGTON Wolves owner Simon Moran has issued a rallying call for the town to get behind his title-chasing team.

The music mogul says it would be music to the ears of the Wolves players if Old Trafford is turned primrose and blue for the Grand Final on Saturday, October 8, kick off 6pm.

Wolves, already League Leaders' Shield winners and Challenge Cup runners-up, booked their place in the championship decider when they overhauled bogey side St Helens 18-10 at The Halliwell Jones Stadium last night.

Now the chance to be named champions for the first time in 61 years will be at stake when they face season-long rivals Hull FC or Wigan Warriors in the showpiece showdown at the Theatre of Dreams.

Wolves fell at the final hurdle to Leeds in 2012 and Wigan in 2013 but set out their stall before the campaign even started to go one better this time.

"We've been there twice in the past few years and lost both. It's all about winning, but you've got to get there to be able to win it," said Moran, boss of SJM Concerts.

"It's been a fantastic effort over the past two weeks from the boys. They've been top drawer all season too - as league leaders, most points for and against, reaching the Challenge Cup Final.

"We've not been champions since 1955 so it's a big thing. It would be great to win it. Maybe we can win it a few times in the next several years.

"To do it, you need the fans with you. I know I've said it before, but we just need the whole town to get behind the players.

"It's a 30-minutes drive away, 20 minutes on the train. Let's pack the place out, have a great afternoon and evening.

"The fans and the atmosphere that they create really does lift the players.

"It was a great atmosphere last night and it really helped."
