AN 'astonished' Culcheth and Glazebury parish councillor has raised serious concerns over an 'eyesore' phone box.

Newchurch Lane residents have contacted Conservative members in recent months to see if they can assist with the issue.

The phone box has been vandalised and deemed out of order but parish councillor Keith Bland is calling for immediate action.

He said: "After residents contacted our Look of Our Villages team I went to look for myself and was astonished to find that despite this damage being reported some months ago nothing has been done.

"I will be contacting BT to request that if they have no intention of repairing and looking after the phone box then they should remove this eyesore as soon as possible.

"I will continue to monitor what the response by BT will be and will keep residents informed."

Party members led by parish councillors on Culcheth and Glazebury and Croft parish councils have also been working to identify other 'visible issues of concern' in the area.

Following the council's announcement that grass-cutting services are set to 'get worse', they called for the matter to be rectified as a 'matter of urgency'.

Parish councillor Ileyne Hutchinson said: "We are continuing to deal with unsightly problems wherever we find them and ask residents to continue to help us in our campaign to keep our village the way we want it to be."
