THE executive board member responsible for leisure, community and culture has completed his mission of visiting every community facility in the borough.

Cllr Tony Higgins (LAB – Fairfield and Howley) made his way to a total of 59 sites in recent months.

They were made up of community centres, libraries, leisure centres, cultural venues and voluntary sector managed sites where the council has been significantly involved.

Cllr Higgins admits he has learned a lot from the experience.

He said: "I made it my personal challenge to visit every single community facility and leisure centre in Warrington – this has never happened before.

"I found it to be a truly rewarding experience, meeting so many dedicated workers and volunteers – without their support Warrington would be poorer for it.

"I've learned a lot from my visits and will use the experience when it comes to decision-making on future community projects.

"Warrington has a rich source of community and leisure centres, something I wasn't fully aware of until my visits, so even though it was a long process, visiting them all was certainly rewarding."
