A GANG armed with a metal pole attacked a man outside a service station near Glazebury on Saturday.

Detectives are investigating after a 30-year-old man stopped at the garage at 1.30am at the junction of Warrington Road and East Lancashire Road in Lately Common to withdraw cash from the ATM.

After withdrawing the cash the victim was approached by four men who got out of a white Toyota Auris.

The men began attacking the victim, hitting him with a metal pole and stole a bum bag containing a quantity of cash.

All of the suspects were wearing balaclavas and one of the men is described as being approximately 6ft 2ins.

Following the incident the suspects got back in the Toyota and drove off in the direction of Lowton.

As a result of the incident the victim suffered injuries to his head and hand.

He was taken to Warrington hospital, but has since been discharged.
