THE principal of Warrington Collegiate has pledged her commitment to ensuring the campus is fully accessible and welcoming to all disabled people.

Nichola Newton, principal of the college, signed the Accessible Warrington Pledge which was launched by charity Warrington Disability Partnership as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations.

Organisations who have signed the pledge will work with the charity if they announce plans to design a new building or refurbish their facilities to ensure the changes are dementia-friendly and fully accessible.

Nichola said: “We are pleased to be a part of the Accessible Warrington Pledge.

“We have always had a strong partnership with the charity and will continue to do what we can to ensure our facilities meet the needs of disabled people.

“Warrington Disability Partnership have worked hard over the last 25 years to improve the lives of so many people in the town and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the charity in the future.”

Derek Jones, deputy chief executive of Warrington Disability Partnership, said: “WDP is delighted that Warrington Collegiate has joined many leading statutory, private and third sector organisations in signing the Accessible Warrington Pledge.

"We have enjoyed a close working relationship with the collegiate for many years and have often witnessed their commitment to engaging with disabled people and carers to use their life experiences to influence exemplar disability access and facilities to the built environment.

"We look forward to continuing our productive partnership working.”

Other organisations which signed the pledge include Golden Square, Warrington Wolves and LiveWire.
