THE LONG-awaited reopening of a rebuilt health centre is set to take place next month.

Medi Centre Warrington on Bewsey Road, formerly known as the Eric Moore Health Centre, will open its doors to patients at the beginning of October.

Its new ‘world class’ facilities will include a theatre suite with the ability to complete X-rays and ultrasound scans as well as an MRI screening unit.

Plans to rebuild the Eric Moore Health Centre, which dated back to the 1960s, were first announced in 2010 with an opening date scheduled for early 2013 but the original contractor went into liquidation.

The centre was demolished in July 2015 with building work commencing in December.

Lead GP Dr Alagu Rajkumar said: “The Medi Centre is a long-awaited facility that has finally come to fruition.

“We sincerely hope that this new facility will make a real and positive difference to the patient population we service in the town centre and the north of Warrington.

“We are very aware of health inequities in the area and hope to contribute to projects and services to support our patients, who include some of the most vulnerable – including the homeless.”
