THE Post Office has confirmed it hopes to announce a decision over the relocation of its Stockton Heath branch 'shortly'.

On August 8 plans to change the use of the London Road site from a Post Office into a restaurant and bar were passed.

The Post Office proposed to move its branch to P&S Supermarket, on Walton Road, which is situated 322 metres away.

A public consultation took place after the plans were submitted and came to an end on August 9.

However, it has been confirmed a decision is yet to be made.

A Post Office spokesman said: "Following a public consultation on the relocation of Stockton Heath Post Office to P&S Supermarket, Walton Road, we hope to be shortly in a position to announce our decision to customers and representatives."

If the move to Walton Road goes ahead the branch itself would be open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, with a selection of services available at the retail counter during shop opening hours each day of the week.
