A POPULAR Chinese restaurant closed its doors following a visit by Food Standards Agency inspectors earlier this month.

The Choy Hing Village in Grappenhall shut voluntarily in order to carry out work that had been recommended by hygiene inspectors.

The Cantonese and Thai restaurant and takeaway, which has been operating on Knutsford Road since 1987, has since reopened.

A spokesman for Warrington Borough Council said: “The council provides a range of food hygiene advice to local businesses – inspections are also routinely carried out to ensure compliance.

“The premises closed voluntarily while recommended work was carried out and has since reopened following completion of the work.

“We would encourage all food business to contact the service to find out about the various practical steps they can take to achieve the highest possible food standards rating and to protect the public.”
