MUSIC fans will pay tribute to Viola Beach at Reading and Leeds Festival this weekend.

While little is known about what shape the tribute will take, it has been confirmed that the four band members and their manager Craig Tarry will be remembered during the festival.

A spokesman for Reading and Leeds said: "Please join us and BBC Music Introducing in paying tribute to Warrington band Viola Beach and their manager Craig Tarry, who we sadly lost earlier this year.

"It was on the BBC Music Introducing stage at "Reading and Leeds where the boys played one of their earliest festival sets, showcasing their irrepressible energy and huge potential.

"We will be dedicating a moment on the Main Stage to the 'boys that sing', whose lives were tragically cut short.

"Join us in celebrating their memory at Leeds on Friday at 5.35pm and Sunday 6.05pm at Reading."

With the support of BBC Introducing Viola Beach were able to secure a slot at Reading and Leeds Festival last year.

The four-piece played on the BBC Introducing stage which has seen sets by the likes of Jake Bugg, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Rae Morris over the years.

Speaking ahead of the gig last year lead singer Kris Leonard , a former Lymm High School pupil, added: "We're excited and a little nervous but we're just treating it as a normal gig on a much larger scale."

Viola Beach also released their debut single, Swings and Waterslides, over the same weekend.

"It's great exposure for us," said Kris, who is hoping to see Hidden Charms and Clean Cut Kid on the BBC Introducing stage and Alt-J on the main stage.

"We've had talks with most major labels and some of the independents too.
"We're also looking forward to the festival itself as we've discovered bands there in the past."

Kris Leonard, Jack Dakin, River Reeves and Tom Lowe died along with their manager Craig Tarry in a tragic crash in Sweden in February when their car plummeted off a canal bridge.

Since then friends, family, fans and music heavy weights including Coldplay have paid tribute to the five friends.
