IT is the busiest time of the year for the team at Warrington Youth Club (WYC). Now with the summer holidays in full swing we get to know the people behind the scenes of the charity that helps keep young people off the streets in the hope of inspiring them to achieve their goals.

Name: Lindsay Gibbons

Age: 32

Job title: Mentoring programme manager

"I started in April 2015 after WYC secured Big Lottery Funding for the mentoring programme.

"The aim is to give kids from Warrington intense support from a suitable volunteer who acts as a mentor.

"Due to the needs of the kids we are helping all volunteers are over the age of 21.

"They meet with them once a week for two hours to take part in a range of activities.

"We are one year in now and we have three mentor co-ordinators to make sure we meet the demand.

"The best part of the job is seeing the difference the programme makes in just a couple of weeks.

"When you meet the kids at their first visit they can be very quiet but after a couple of sessions they have started to gain confidence and open up."
