FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue a swan which had become entangled in a fishing line in Appleton Reservoir yesterday, Sunday.
Two fire engines from Warrington and the rescue boat rushed to the scene at around 12.55pm after the RSPCA asked for their help.
The swan also had a hook stuck in its beak and members of the fire service's water rescue team went into the reservoir to help the animal.
The swan was taken to the water's edge where the line and hook were removed.
