RESEARCH has found Creamfields is the most 'cost-effective' festival. 

But another survey this week has revealed ticket prices have increased by 540 per cent since it started. 

Research from Megabus on how the UK’s festivals stack up against each other in terms of value for money found Creamfields topped the pile. 

The study compared the cost of visiting a festival versus the cost of seeing all the acts on show individually.

V Festival is the least cost-effective festival to visit this summer – attendees will only save £842 seeing the 41 acts playing at the Essex and Staffordshire-based festival.

While research from creative design and manufacture company Scruffy Dog Ltd looked at how the main UK festivals have grown over the years, in terms of their ticket price, number of people attending and the number of acts that play there - from the year they launched to this year.

They found Glastonbury had the most impressive rises of all: firstly, their ticket price has gone from a paltry £1 in 1970 (which included a free carton of milk from the farm),
to a pretty purse-walloping £228 – a rise of 22,700%.

The number of acts performing has gone up just as much: from just 13 bands or singers then (including a little-known T-Rex), to over 3,000 this year, a rise of 22,978%. 

And those who got muddy and rained on this summer have gone from 1,500 to over 120,000 – a rise of 7,900%.

Creamfields was established in 1998 and the dance
festival has seen a 100% rise in performers (going from over 100 to over 200) while attendance has only swelled by 220% (from 25,00 to 80,000). 

The original price of £37.50 is now on a healthy 540% markup to £240.
