THE recent political turmoil within the UK has left the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ facing a potentially less certain future.

Although senior figures are still backing the concept it is a concern that without the high-profile support of a local chancellor some of the large catalyst projects, such as HS2 and HS3 may not gain the momentum required to realise delivery on time and in full.

In fact the progress of major structural investments such as these, given a less certain economic future must be monitored cautiously.

It is therefore even more important to focus on things with are in the control within Warrington and continue to make a difference there.

My commute to the campus in Fearnhead has seen an improvement in traffic flow recently.

Along with thousands of others going to Birchwood Park journey times have been improved and importantly become more predictable.

The ‘Pinch Point’ road improvements of Oakwood Gate (‘Dog-bone’ roundabout) and Moss Gate, and enhanced bus, cycle and pedestrian routes appear to be working well – £5.2 million well spent.

It’s a winner all round for businesses, investors, commuters, residents and the environment.
