AN AWARD given in memory of 14-year-old Eve Shepherd has been won by an ‘extremely polite’ nine-year-old.

The Eve Shepherd Memorial Trophy is awarded in memory of the former Bruche Primary School pupil who died suddenly on February 1 2015 after encountering breathing difficulties at her family home in Padgate.

This term’s winner from the Seymour Drive school is nine-year-old Freya Thomas.

Head teacher Chris Jones said: “Freya was nominated for the award because she always works really hard and tries her best.

“She will do extra homework without prompting, she always helps other and is extremely polite.

“Freya always support her friends and is an excellent mediator when anyone in class falls out.

“Her attendance over the past three years has been outstanding, achieving 100 per cent for the last two years running and three times out of the last four years.”

Freya was presented the award by Eve's parents Mark and Jane.
