A BUDDY Holly fan will soon have a permanent tribute to his idol after his social media post went viral as part of a tattoo competition.
Scott Evans, of Quay Close, Oakwood, posted a video playing one of his favourite Buddy Holly songs in a bid to win a tattoo by Danny Warburton from Ink-Finity in Latchford.
The tattoo parlour on Westy Lane launched the competition last week asking Facebook users to post the name of their favourite musician – past or present.
The winner would win a tattoo of their music idol.
Scott, 35, called on the services of his wife Nicola to film a video of him donning a Buddy Holly mask while performing Peggy Sue.
After posting the video on social media the video quickly went viral with 11,000 views within 48 hours.
The dad-of-one said: "I have been a Buddy Holly fan since I was in school.
"I remember one of my friends' dads playing him on repeat when I was younger and I love listening to his music.
"I have seen these competition before but I never had the time.
“I remember getting a call to say look at your video and I was shocked by how many people had watched it.
"My wife thinks I'm mad but at the end of the day I got a free tattoo out of it."
The Freelance IT specialist, who is dad to 11-year-old Milly, is expected to get Buddy Holly tattoo completed in the coming weeks.
