HUNDREDS of volunteers will unite against world hunger to prepare 100,000 meals in Thelwall next month.

More than 600 volunteers from Stop Hunger Now and Warrington Rotary Club will package 100,000 meals for the hungry on Friday August 12 and Saturday August 13 at Chaigeley School on Lymm Road.

Volunteers will package meals consisting of rise, soy, vegetables and 22 essential vitamins and minerals, with more than seven tonnes of ingredients at the ready.

Warrington Rotary Club president Irene Russell said: “I could not think of a better way for our club to demonstrate this year’s theme of ‘rotary serving humanity’ then to pack 100,000 meals which will feed hungry people across the world.

“This event brings our club, other rotary clubs and the community as a whole together to celebrate what rotary does best.”

The rotary club will be supported by members of 20 other clubs across the north west as well as volunteers from churches, businesses and services.
