A CLOSE friend of Eve Shepherd, who tragically died more than a year ago after struggling with breathing difficulties, has organised a charity dance show in her memory.

Rebecca Corinaldi and Eve quickly became good friends after the two schoolgirls met at Birchwood High School around four years ago.

The 16-year-old said: "I met Eve in year seven because we were in the same form.

"We were friends for more than three years and I was extremely lucky to have been in the same form as her and have such an intelligent and inspirational friend."

Former Bruche Primary School Pupil Eve died suddenly at her home in Padgate in February 2015 at the age of 14.

Born at 28 weeks on July 9, 2000, and weighing only 700g, Eve had the fight of her life ahead of her from day one.

Since her death, her strength has inspired many and there has been an outpouring of support with friends, family and event strangers raising funds for a number of charities close to the hearts of Eve's family.

Rebecca is no exception and the kind-hearted teenager has decided to organise a charity dance show to make sure her friend's legacy survives the test of time.

"My hope is that it will keep Eve's memory alive and to help raise more awareness for the chosen charities," she said.

"Eve was never able to do much sport because of her breathing but I think the show is something she would have enjoyed watching."

Rebecca will be joined by her fellow dancers from Holly Clarke Dance, who rehearse at Padgate Community Centre.

The show will take place in the performing arts block of Birchwood High School on Monday, July 11.

The show will start at 7pm but guests are asked to arrive at 6.40pm.

Tickets are £3 but under fives are free.
