WORK has started on removing the pedestrian footbridge by the market car park.

A team moved in overnight to start the process of pulling down the car park.

It is set to be replaced as part of the Bridge Street works that are currently under way in the area.

Warrington Borough Council has appointed Winwick-based I&H Brown for the new 1,150-space multi-storey car park that will serve the £107m Bridge Street regeneration project.

Completion is anticipated in October 2017.
