SIR Thomas Boteler High School was closed today after firefighters were called to tackle a blaze at the school in the early hours of this morning, Monday.
Five fire engines rushed to the school on Grammar School Road at around 4.15am.
Firefighters used hose reel jets to extinguish a blaze on the ground floor of the building.
They believe the blaze was caused by an electrical problem.
No casualties were reported but the school will remain closed tomorrow, Tuesday, except for students taking their GCSE exams or revision classes.
A spokesman from Warrington Borough Council said that there was minimal damage which was limited to one classroom and the building is safe.
However, there was a large amount of smoke and the school will be closed tomorrow, June 14, to allow it to be properly cleaned.
The school said GCSE examinations will go ahead as normal and students with exams and revision sessions should still attend.
