A CAT charity is appealing for volunteers to help them with their work controlling feral colonies of cats.

Cats Protection’s Warrington Adoption Centre in Padgate needs volunteer trapping officers who can spare a few hours a month to help prevent cats breeding out of control.

As feral cats are not domesticated, it is not possible to approach them so the charity runs a Trap, Neuter, Return scheme to humanely capture them before transporting them to a vet to be neutered and finally released back to their colony.

“The centre does a huge amount of work to help local cats but we really need someone to become our Trapping Officer and assist in this vital part of our operations,” Sonia Scowcroft said.

“It’s a unique role, so we do not expect anyone with experience in this area, and we can provide plenty of assistance and training. However, we do need someone who loves cats and has bags of enthusiasm."
