WARRINGTON Wolves Foundation Disability FC is set to benefit from a cash boost to help improve the club.

A total of 20 grassroots clubs from across Merseyside and Cheshire have been presented with a combined total of £52,500 worth of funding as part of the Football Foundation’s Grow the Game initiative.

Each club will receive a maximum of £1,500 per team with the funding to be utilised to help costs associated with starting a new team, including kit, coaching qualifications, equipment, training facilities and more.

Sky Sports News presenter Hayley McQueen, who is an ambassador for the Football Foundation, said: "This investment, which is provided by the Premier League and The FA, has created an opportunity for more people to play football, which will not only keep them fit and healthy but also develop their life-skills.

“Grants like this one make a real difference to grassroots football.

"They help clubs meet the costs associated with starting a new team – like getting volunteer coaches qualified with FA coaching badges – and so help to drive up participation levels in the sport, especially amongst under-represented groups.”
