IT was an egg-citing day at Beamont Community Primary School when pupils got to welcome a new family of chicks into the world.
Youngsters at the school on O'Leary Street enjoyed caring for the new additions before they were rehomed at a children's farm.
Alice Booth, teacher, said: "As part of our spring topic, the reception and nursery children at Beamont Primary School received a very special delivery of 10 chicken eggs.
"The children were given the chance to name the chicks and watch them hatch from the eggs whilst inside the incubator.
"Once all of the chicks had hatched we were able to move them to a bigger cage where the children could watch them grow and play.
"On our last day with the chicks we sat in a big circle and we all had a go at holding a chick each.
"The children thoroughly enjoyed looking after the chicks."
