LADIES taking part in the St Rocco’s Starlight Walk in June are invited to wear their pink t-shirts to work on Friday and use social media to send their pictures to the charity.

Peta Brandwood, who owns the dog training business, Peta4Dogs, volunteers each year to decorate the Orford Jubilee hub where the Starlight Walk begins and has been wearing her St Rocco’s top with pride.

She has been wearing her pink t-shirt while volunteering as a dog trainer for Dog Aid, working with disabled dog owners to help them train their dogs to provide support with everyday tasks.

The hospice also took care of Peta’s mum when she was unwell last year and Peta said: “I don’t think people fully appreciate just how much the hospice relies on the local community for funding.

“It’s really important for us all in Warrington to keep supporting St Rocco’s so that they can continue to care for our loved ones when they need it.

“The Starlight Walk is such an important event for supporting the work at St Rocco’s.”

It costs more than £3 million a year to run St Rocco’s and 70 per cent of the money comes from generous fundraisers across the town.

Sophie Birch, Events Manager at St Rocco’s, said she hopes that inviting people to wear pink to work will generate more sponsorship and awareness for the Starlight Walk.

She said: “We also want the ladies to feel really proud of themselves for taking on our midnight walking challenge.”
