CHESHIRE Fire Service has launched its first phone app so people can check how fire safe their homes are via their mobiles.

The app, called Risk Rater, gives users tips to keep their family safe from fire emergencies and allows people to risk assess their homes for free.

Caroline Jones, digital and media services manager, said: “We are thrilled to be launching Risk Rater.

“The team has worked hard to create a simple, free tool for residents to evaluate their homes.

“It’s particularly excellent because all information recorded by the app will help us to improve the value of our future safety campaigns.”

The app asks a series of short questions and then delivers a full assessment report straight to the user’s email inbox.

Head of Prevention Nick Evans said: “The app is a quick and easy check that not only shows you how fire safe your home is now but also gives you hints and tips on how to keep your home and loved ones even safer.”

Cheshire Fire hopes to add more features to the app, including a business fire risk assessment.

Risk Rater can be downloaded from Google Play Store or the App Store and users can also complete a questionnaire about the app at cheshirefireandrescue.gov.uk.
