THE grandmother of an eight-year-old boy who has ADHD has welcomed the news of added funding for the condition from Comic Relief and Children in Need.

Great Sankey resident Jean Fitzpatrick, who is a trustee of the ADHD Foundation and a carer for her eight-year-old grandson Marcus, has welcomed news the Comic Relief and Children in Need have awarded the charity funding to the tune of £250,000.

The charity also supports families living with other neurodevelopmental difficulties like autism, which Marcus also suffers from.

Ms Fitzpatrick said: “As a trustee of the ADHD Foundation I am extremely grateful and delighted that we have been given these awards.

“The funding will enable us to continue the fantastic work we do to support young people and their families with what is a very misunderstood and underfunded condition.

“In Warrington we work extremely closely with the ADHD Foundation, implementing programmes of work in schools – including training staff, supporting parent and school relationships and running a support group for families living with ADHD.

“None of this would be possible without the support from the Children in Need and Comic Relief funds.”
