POLICE officers will be 'rearranging' how their vehicles are parked outside the Stockton Heath station to ensure pedestrians avoid being obstructed.
The force has responded to concerns from a resident who said two vans near the police station, on Grappenhall Road, were hampering the safety of pedestrians.
But sergeant Gareth Kerr confirmed new measures will be introduced.
He said: "Stockton Heath Police Station is still an operational police station and as such officers have a requirement to park outside when working from the station.
"The police vehicles in question are parked in the police marked bay at the front of the station, which is provided by the authority, and are therefore not parked illegally, although the location of the bay does mean that it is close to the junction with Victoria Road.
"There is unfortunately no suitable alternative parking for them, other than to try and find a space further down Victoria Road, which then causes annoyance to residents because police vans are parked outside their houses.
"The vehicles are not left there all the time, and are rarely both there together, although this can happen on occasion.
"We will shortly be rearranging our vehicle fleet to make sure that only cars are parked in the bay nearest to the junction with Victoria Road to help prevent any further visual obstruction for pedestrians when crossing near to the junction with Grappenhall Road."
