AS Valentine’s Day approaches, a cat charity is appealing to people to spare a thought for the many homeless felines who need to meet that special someone.

Cats Protection’s Warrington in Padgate currently has 59 felines in its care who are all desperate to find a home.

Volunteers and staff are now calling on potential owners to celebrate the most loving day of the year by finding a new pet.

Anna Saillet, deputy manager at the centre on Elizabeth Drive, said: “Just like humans, cats are individuals with different quirks and personalities and we have cats which would suit all sorts of people.

"They are loyal, friendly, funny and loving – so what better time of year to pick a new best friend than around Valentine’s Day?”

Staff say Aramis and Cartier are a loving pair of cats with Aramis literally wearing a love heart on her coat.

She came in with her long term friend Cartier and they can often be seen cuddling up together.

They have lived with other cats and would be suitable for a wide variety of homes.

Visit the pair at the charity's centre which now has extended hours on a Thursday night until 8pm.
