A STUNNED Manchester United fan was left 'buzzing' after one of the club's stars publicised a picture he captured to millions across the globe.

Following the team's 0-0 draw to neighbours Manchester City at Old Trafford last October, Woolston resident Nathan Thomas posted a shot he took at the game, which featured a flag of World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger, on Instagram.

And it was clear the German midfielder, 31, was impressed with the image after he posted the same shot last week to his 4.1 million followers.

In the caption he said: "Wherever you are, your support is fantastic! Thanks so much! #mufc."

Schweinsteiger's post has racked up an impressive 106,000 likes.

It was also sent out to his fans on Twitter and notched up more than 2,840 retweets but Nathan admits he is bemused by how the footballer found it.

The 24-year-old added: "I'd originally posted the picture back in October following the Manchester derby.

"It had been a pretty underwhelming game in truth and the amazing Schweinsteiger flag that had been made by fans in Old Trafford's J Stand turned out to be one of the highlights.

"I've always loved Schweinsteiger and was delighted when he signed for us in the summer so, naturally, the flag caught my eye and I was keen to capture the moment.

"I'm not going to deny that I was buzzing when he posted it on his own account and it's nice to see that he appreciates the support he gets from the fans who have certainly taken to him."
