VERA and Shetland author Ann Cleeves visited Woolston Neighbourhood Hub Library yesterday afternoon.

Ann, whose books inspired the hit ITV crime dramas, dropped in to launch her new quick-read book Too Good To Be True – which features Jimmy Perez from the Shetland series.

Warrington Guardian:

She said: “Quick reads are a great way to bring people back to reading and also act as a good stepping stone to reading full length novels.

“Writing a quick read is also a good experience for an author as you’re only able to include a limited amount of words so it makes you think what’s important as a writer.”

Warrington Guardian:

Fans also got the chance to quiz the north east native about her books and have them signed.

Ann also addressed the crowd, which was more than 50 strong, about the importance of libraries.

Warrington Guardian:

Chris Everett, senior Livewire advisor for reading, said: “It was fantastic to welcome the much-loved author Ann Cleeves to Warrington and to hear all about her fascinating career and what inspires her as an author.”
