A LITTLE Spider Man fan has set himself a mission to help his sick friends.
Moore Pre School pupil Frankie Bowen has just been diagnosed with juvenile arthritis. He is only three.

His mum, Kat, 26, said: “He is obsessed with Spider Man and Ninja Turtles.

“He said to me: ‘Can I be a super hero for my friends at Alder Hey?’

“He has made many friends at the hospital and wanted to give something back.”

Frankie will be joining elephant mascot Oli’s 3k Alder Hey charity walk at Knowsley Safari Park on May 22.

In just a week, he has raised £530 towards his £1,000 target.

His dad, Bryn, 30, six-month-old brother, Bobby, and step sister, Kyiah, nine, will be cheering him on.

Frankie started with a limp when he was 18 months old but despite scans, he kept being sent home.

He suddenly collapsed last August with swollen knees and couldn’t walk.
Tests revealed he had juvenile arthritis which the family was told affects around one in 350 children.

Frankie faces hospital treatment until he is 18, when medics say 50 per cent of patients can recover.

“Frankie has times when he physically can’t walk and is constantly getting eye infections,” added Kat.

“We want to make him aware of how inspirational he is to us all and raise awareness of this condition.

“We had never heard of it.”

Frankie, who starts at Pewithall School in September, loves karate.
Cath Harding from Alder Hey Children’s Charity said: “We are so grateful to Frankie and his family for supporting Alder Hey.

“To raise £500 so quickly is incredible and I would like to thank them for all their fantastic fundraising efforts.

“Alder Hey treats many children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis and other inflammatory diseases and with the support of fundraisers like Frankie, we are developing ground-breaking treatments for children with these conditions.”
